Thoughts Along the Way

Pastor Tom Joyce

December 14, 2021

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.”

John 1:5

The reality of living is that each of us is uniquely human, which has its joys and challenges to be sure. There are times everything seems to be running smoothly and there isn’t a care in the world, issues are minimal with no clouds on the horizon. Other times along the way are not quite so nice; financial or health challenges and other personal issues we have created by our own actions or those beyond our control take a firm grip on our lives.  At these times, even though the sun may be shining outside, there is “darkness,” and how dark the uncertainty that encircles us. Have you ever stepped into such a darkness? There can be no denial of the darkness that occurs along the way, yet in the midst of darkness there is light, and the light is our Lord Jesus Christ who comes into your world, calling you by name leading you through those moments offering assurance no matter the “darkness” that may come your way. Psalm 23 confirms, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil: for you are with me, your rod and your staff—they comfort me.” The is no shadow so long, nor darkness so deep that the light of Christ cannot overcome. You, especially you, are blessed every moment of your life with an amazing gift, brighter than any flashlight or light source made by human hands that not only lights your way but enlivens your very soul to experience the pure love of God that will never, never let you go. Accept the love of God through our Lord Jesus Christ into your life and you will know the Light that has called you by name and has promised to be with you always, even to the end of the age.
