A Prayer for Easter
2022
Gracious and everlasting God, we celebrate the eternal gift of salvation through the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. We celebrate fresh eyes to see, a heart that understands, and hands that you have equipped to reach out to those who have yet to hear the amazing news of the empty tomb and the opening of paradise to all who believe. May this be a time for us to start fresh and to truly live in the abundance of your grace. As we celebrate down to our soul new life in you, we are also aware of the needs of our communities, nation, and world. We pray for the people of the Ukraine and all those everywhere whose lives have been upended by violence; may your peace intercede in those hearts and places for healing in body and spirit. We pray for those who inflict the evils of war, violence, hatred, and judgment upon others, that their hearts may be transformed by your grace and mercy for building up and not tearing down. We pray for our military, police, firefighters, and all who lay their lives on the line for the benefit of others. We pray for our medical community as they care for the needs of those who are sick. We pray for your churches throughout the world to rise to the grand calling of witnessing the Good News of you. If ever we need you Jesus, it is now. We pray for those who hunger in body and spirit, that they may be filled. We pray for those who have yet to experience the Good News and the transforming power of the resurrection in their lives. Lord, “create in us a new heart,” that we may live life anew, shedding all the stuff in our lives that have held us back from being fully in love with you and sharing the same love with our neighbor. May we experience your presence as Easter people, redeemed by your presence, equipped and empowered by your Holy Spirit to witness this incredible news of you by our words and in all that we do now and always. Amen.
A blessed Easter to you. May the presence of our Resurrected Savior Jesus Christ be with you now, even to the end of the age. You have been blessed more than you will ever know by the One who was victorious over the grace and has offered you yet another chance to live in the abundance of God’s grace, now and forever.
