Pastoral Prayer May 24, 2022
A Pastor’s Prayer
Lord God, our creator and author of our salvation through Jesus Christ, if ever our nation needs you, it is now. As a nation we grieve the loss of children and adults to senseless violence at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. We pray for those families who lost loved ones and those in the community whose lives will be forever changed. We pray for all first responders who put their lives on the line for the benefit of others, especially those who rushed to the help those in Uvalde. We pray for our nation that we move beyond casting blame to a people bound together with cords of your redeeming grace. Help us to truly live out your command for us to love our neighbor and to cast our eyes to the hills of your eternal love for all people. May we, empowered by your Holy Spirit, reach beyond ourselves so that we may be your voice, your hands, and your arms to the world around us. If ever we need you Jesus, it is now. May we as a nation understand that you are the source of the peace and hope that will end the hatred and violence that we are experiencing throughout this land. If ever we need you Jesus, it is now. Intercede in hearts hardened by hatred and violence that never again would our nation endure another loss of even a single life to violence. If ever we need you Jesus, it is now. Jesus, be our rock in the midst these uncertain times, a harbor of safety in raging seas. Offer us wisdom to offer hope and peace, even in these times of seeming hopelessness and unrest. If ever we need you Jesus, it is now. Thank you Jesus, being with those in their time of need not only in Uvalde but everywhere in our nation and throughout the world. If ever we need you Jesus, it is now. In your precious name we pray. Amen
