“You Matter” Luke 15:1-7
Pastor Tom’s Weekly Blog. “You Matter” Luke 15:1-7

“Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it?” Luke 15:4
Have you ever felt marginalized? Misunderstood? Forgotten? Lost? Have you ever felt the world seems to have passed you by? In the current “shelter in place” climate in which we live, it is easy to experience just a sense of being lost, if not forgotten. God has a message for you; you matter to God. You matter because you are loved far too much by God to ever forget about you and will go to the extreme, even death on a cross, to find you. You matter because you were made in the very image of God. But, you may say,” look at how much of a mess I have made of my life? I deserve whatever punishment God will give me.” God is not waiting for you to fail, God is searching for you so you may live; “Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but so that the world may be saved through him.” (John 3:17) If you feel you are marginalized, you are not by God. If you feel misunderstood, you are not by God. If you feel forgotten or lost, you are not forgotten by God and God is actively seeking you out so you will never feel lost again. All of this sounds good, you may say, but what do I need to do? Jesus died on a cross for you, and has his mighty arms open for you; all you need to do is to stop running, turn back and accept the love of God through Jesus. The truth is, God’s grace will find you, because no matter how far off the path you have gone, Jesus will find you not to condemn you but to offer you a life bathed in the love of God. Thank you Jesus for never letting us go, no matter how far we have gone from the people you have intended for us to be. Thank you Jesus, for seeking us out and offering us another chance at life lived in the abundance of your grace.
