Pastor’s Prayer

A Pastor’s Prayer;

Gracious and merciful God, we pray for healing and peace where lives have been shattered by acts of senseless violence.  We pray for the George Floyd family and our entire nation as we as a nation grieve the loss of his life. Bind us together with your never-failing love and grace during these unsettling times. Heal our nation and the wounds of hatred and violence that run deep with within our society.  We pray to an end of hatred, violence, and an “eye for an eye” mentality which only perpetuates the chasm between your people. Help us, as your children, to witness a far more excellent way to live, offering grace instead of division, a loving hand instead of indifference and the bond of peace rather than resentment. Lord Jesus, help each of us bear witness to the same love you have shared with us; may we more wholly live as you have called us to live. The ugliness of hatred, racism, and violence against another has no place in any society; may we be the conduit of your never-failing love to the world. May we, with one voice, stand up and proclaim, no more. Anoint us by your Holy Spirit to see all people as your beloved children, not as a statistic or category rather as a friend and fellow child of God, redeemed by your grace and called by name. Jesus, may we be more like you in all that we think, say, and do in order that we may be the salve to heal the wounds that have caused division rather than community. May we live out loving you with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength and with earnest and faith truly love our neighbor as ourselves. We pray in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who, suffered, died and was raised on the third day to offer all the transformative love that we need, especially today and every day.  Amen
