Daily Devotional Day 43
Day 43. Take Time to Be Holy
May 28, 2020
“When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:31
Read: Acts Chapter 4
It is always fun to ask someone’s opinion on something they love. I enjoy planting things and watch them grow, but to be honest I know little about what I am planting. My conversation about planting is not so much based in knowledge as much as just joy in the beauty in what has been planted. Several years ago I played golf with an arborist who was incredibly well versed and passionate about trees. When he was helping me find a ball I hit in the woods, he began to explain to me the different smells of the forest, and why each species (of course by their Latin names) of trees had a distinct smell. He spoke with boldness the majesty of trees and the vegetation around them while I searched for my errant tee shot. I will never forget his zeal and passion for which he spoke of with boldness. In the same way, faith spoken with boldness shares a witness that is transforming and enlightening. The majesty and power of God through our Lord Jesus Christ is beyond words and requires a boldness of faith that can only be empowered by the gift of the Holy Spirit. When we pray for the boldness of faith to witness the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world, we will be empowered by the Holy Spirit that will equip us with the words, the wisdom, and the power to live out the Word that bind up wounds, heals the broken-hearted, and sets the prisoner of sin free. You are a bold witness where-ever God has called you to be on the journey. Your boldness of faith is desperately needed right now. But you are not alone; the Holy Spirit will give you what you need to continue the work of Jesus Christ in the world. Christ has “no hands but yours, no voice but yours.” You will never be forgotten by those you offered the Good News of Jesus Christ to with a boldness of faith.
What does being “bold in faith” mean to you?
How has someone positively impacted your life in their bold witness to you?
How are you taking time to be holy today?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I pray that the Holy Spirit offer me the boldness of faith today. Help me be so in love with you that I share what I have received to those who desperately need you in their lives. Thank you Jesus for the gift you have given me today. Amen
