Jesus Along the Way: Words of Hope and Grace. By Pastor Tom Joyce
August 17, 2020
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.”
Romans 8:26
It is an amazing thing to hear some people speak and pray; words roll off their tongue with eloquence and wisdom. Have you ever felt like praying in a certain way but somehow the words came out wrong, if they came out at all? We have all experienced such a time when the words in our minds do not match the need or the occasion; that is called being human! The reality is, our prayers are not based on our words but on the presence of the Holy Spirit witnessing something far more profound than our words could ever express; the presence of our Risen Savior Jesus Christ. Prayer is not mechanical, it is spiritual; it is conversation with God as God speaks through you offering comfort and hope to someone else and to ourselves. So often we are weakened by emotion or just the challenges of our day to day, especially in these uncertain times of living through a pandemic while tending to daily living. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is alive and well with you in Spirit and your words will have a profound impact on the life of another because the Lord blesses your words to offer hope and grace in times of need. Just pray; don’t worry about whether you know how to pray or not; the Spirit that is within you and the grace you have received at the time of your conception will guide you along the way, beyond your words. Prayer’s meaning does not lie in our ability but in God’s eternal Word of hope and grace alive and well in your soul. The presence of the Holy Spirit is beyond words and explanation; it is the very power that created the heavens and the earth and has the power to offer you strength even in times of weakness. Jesus, through the Holy Spirit is with you along the way today, this very moment. That is a promise from the One who neither slumbers nor sleeps.”
