Daily Devotional – Day 15

Day 15:  Take Time to Be Holy

“I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17:26

Read: John 17

Jesus prays for you. Amazing love Jesus shares with you; the same love that Jesus shares with God, creator of the universe. Take the time to read the entirety of this prayer recorded by John; you were included even then before you were born, and even now in very soul of Jesus. God’s love extends from the time of creation and “even to the end of the age.” Human love is often fickle, it can go up and down with the tide. But God’s love for you never ends, never fails and is always there for you to accept. Feel unloved? Not by God. Consider this; Jesus, the Son of God, died on a cross for you, for no other reason other than you are eternally loved. Think of that for a moment; no matter what you have done, said, or thought the love of God through Jesus the Christ will never let you go. All you need to do is turn around, repent, and experience the joy of God’s love offering another chance at this thing called life.  The food labeling directives from the FDA is 189 pages long. God’s directive for love is 2 sentences: “you shall love the Lord your God with all you heart, mind, soul, and strength.” And the second; “you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” God’s love is simple yet profound and all encompassing. Jesus’ prayer shares with you the love that binds the universe for no other reason other than you are, “precious in God’s sight, and honored, and loved.” (Isaiah 43:4) “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see.” (John Newton, “Amazing Grace”) Accept the love of God through Jesus Christ and experience “seeing” the world in new and exciting ways.

How have you felt the love of God in your life?

In what ways are you sharing the love of God with somebody else today?

How are you taking time to be holy?

Precious Lord, thank you for loving me throughout my life in its ups and downs, through sins and careless living. Help me to share your endless love with those around me so they can experience the love you have for them from the beginning of time. Amen
