Jesus Along the Way: Words of Grace and Hope.                           Pastor Tom Joyce

November 3, 2020

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.”

Proverbs 3:5

“He’s got the whole world, in his hands…” These words in the song written by Laurie London proclaim the immense perspective of God; not only did God create the world, God saw the need to redeem the world through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Trusting in the Lord is all about knowing that first and foremost, we are not God and that God’s vision for us and the world is far greater than we can envision for ourselves. Our insights about things are based on, and limited by, our vision of the world. When we rely on just what we think, we miss the majesty of God’s creation and the ability to understand in part how God thinks, not the mention the perspective of those who are journeying with us through life.  Our own insight is based on what we experience, but that limits our understanding of how others may experience the same situation. When we trust the Lord with all our heart, our perspective of life is based not solely on our experience, but how our experiences are intertwined with the experiences of others. When we trust in the Lord, we latch on to the love God has for all people and to see all life as precious and a shared experience rather that a solitary movement that has no relationship or responsibility for the others along the way.  When we accept Jesus into our lives we celebrate the grace we have received and the opportunity to see life from the loving perspective of God and not only through our limited vision of life. Trusting God is a gift that allows us to enjoy life without the baggage of our own personal needs that have a tendency to overshadow the needs of others along the way. Put your whole trust in God, the creator of heaven and earth, and you will experience the freedom of knowing you are in the mighty hands of God, along with everybody else in the world.
