Daily Devotional Day 35

Day 35.  Take Time to Be Holy

May 13, 2020

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 8:38,39

Read: Romans Chapter 8

So here I was early in the morning well before the sun began to give warmth to a sleeping creation thinking and praying about the impact the pandemic is having on the lives of so many people, how loved ones are unable to be at the bedside of those in the hospital or long-term care facilities. At the same time my thoughts considered how different our world will look once we have mitigated the symptoms of this disease and we begin to rebuild or build anew our lives. Maybe you have the same sleepless nights or thoughts running through your mind as well. Then came the love of God streaming in as I began my morning walk into the warmth of the sun rising off in the distance. When our thoughts begin to wonder and our path may seem uncertain, our rock in the midst of our lives is Jesus the Christ who promises to be with us even to the end of the age, no matter what the world may bring our way. In the midst of my thoughts this morning was Jesus speaking through the beginning of a new day, the birds singing their hymns of praise, and the depth of the blue sky piercing the depth of my soul. Sometimes we need to be reminded that God’s love through Jesus Christ will never end and that it will lift us up and set us free to celebrate all of life’s blessings we may miss when we take our focus off Jesus. Maybe today is the day you begin with this conviction of faith; there is nothing in this world that “will be able to separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Take time today to be holy in focusing on the miracle of the love of God showering you with new life filled with joy, peace, hope, and the conviction of the eternal presence of Jesus. God gives us continuous reminders, we just need to open the eyes of our heart to experience life that is offered, in abundance.

How have you been reminded today of God’s love?

Where have you experienced the love of God lately?

How are you taking time to be holy today?

Prayer:  Loving God, help me be convinced that you are with me, always even and especially today. Open my eyes that I may see the goodness of your creation as a reminder of your love you offer to me Amen

Worship Update: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, worship will be on-line only for the month of January. We want to do what we can as a church to “do no harm,” keep people safe and at the same time stay in relationship with our community and most importantly with God. God is good and will provide. Thank you for your grace; we will journey through this month together,
strengthened and upheld by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We do monitor weekly the Lorain Department of Health for updates. Moving forward, we will continue to livestream our
Sunday morning 11:00 worship service as we have for the past several years and are providing the “phone-in” and “drive-in” options for listening to the service if saints do not have internet access.
