Daily Devotional Day 38

Day 38.  Take Time to Be Holy

May 19, 2020

“Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.”  Luke 18:17

Read:  Luke 18:15-17

I will never forget the first time I went to a Cleveland Indians baseball game. I do not remember the score of the game but I do remember the feeling of amazement looking over the huge expanse of the outfield, the diamond, scoreboard, and just the excitement and energy of sitting in that big old stadium for the first time. Think back to a time when you saw something you have never seen before and were just amazed at what was before you. It was all so new and the memory is forever woven into the fabric of your life. The innocence of a child’s mind sees a world unfold before them and celebrates every moment and each new experience as a gift to be opened and celebrated. So it is with faith; when we see and experience the reality of the redeeming grace of Jesus the Christ, it is a celebration of epic proportions that no one can take away. To receive Jesus as a little child is to view life in a wholly different and exciting way. No longer is life the same old, same old; it is always new, fresh, exciting and truly an adventure.  Jesus offers new life, life born anew; always looking forward and celebrating the moment that God has given today. No matter how tarnished our lives have been in the past, when we turn back to God and seek the new and abundant life God offers everything becomes new; we see life as a child and with joy receive the grace and mercy of God through Jesus which has no end.  Jesus said, “let the little children come to me and do not stop them: for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.” God loves you and offers you the joy and privilege of celebrating new life as a child celebrates, free from the burden of guilt, sin, and all else that keeps you from celebrating this moment, this very moment, as truly a gift from God to you. Accept the love of Jesus into your heart and with the eyes of a child of God you will experience grace that has not end.

Name a time when you saw something incredible for the first time; how did you feel?

How can you look at life in a way that celebrates the love of God?

How are taking time to be holy today?

Prayer: Jesus, help me to see all life as a gift from you; soften my heart so I can experience the life you have offered me today. Amen
