Celebration Upon Arrival Matthew 20:1-16

“So the last will be first and the first will be last.”

Matthew 20:16

It is hard to imagine what God has in store for us, either in this life or the life to come. Jesus values equally those who have come to faith from an early age and those who accept the Lord’s call at the moment of death. Of course that doesn’t make sense to a world that values seniority, who rush to be at the front of the line to get the best seats in the house, or just to have a seat somewhere in the room. We are celebrated by our gracious and merciful God whenever we arrive, just the fact that we turn back to God (repent) and profess Jesus as our Lord and Savior is sufficient. It is not when we come to faith or what we do along the way to get there, it is what Jesus has already done for us that heals our sin-sick soul and transforms our spirit. There is no seniority in the Kingdom of God, just acceptance and celebration for all who come to believe that Jesus the Christ is Lord and Savior. The living Word of God is truly life-changing and soul-saving. In other words, God is in charge and we are not, thankfully! God’s grace is sufficient for a seat at the table, no matter when you arrive. It’s all about that grace! Thank you Jesus.
