“Jesus” Revelation 1:4-8

“I am the Alpha and the Omega”

Revelation 1:8

Someone once said that the only constant in the world is change and for that most part that is true. The seasons change as does the weather. Technology changes daily. The amount of information now available to us is immense due to scientific discoveries not to mention almost universal internet access. The opinions of others are now open for all to see which can have an impact on how we think and approach our lives. Change can be a scary thing because it brings into question what always brought comfort even in the most uncertain times. Change has also saved lives and connected us with so many different people and ideas which has broadened our view of the world and its people. There is no doubt change affects everybody. A scribe for a king once wrote, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…” (Ecclesiastes 3:1) We know with every coming season there is change and with every day new experiences challenge us and at the same time enrich us. Life is truly a journey and with every step we take a new adventure unfolds. Jesus reminds us that in the midst of change and at times an unsettling world, he is constant and has been from the beginning of time; “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Though our lives change and at times seem to be wildly out of control there is Jesus, offering hope in the midst of hopelessness, peace in the midst of uncertain times, joy in the midst sorrow and heart-ache. When the winds of change and the reality of sin take you in a direction that is uncertain, cling to the One who before you were born knew you, “the Alpha;” and the same One who promised to be with you even to the end of the age, “the Omega.” Bottom line is, no matter the changes that take place in your life and all around you, the one constant is your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you ever wonder who Jesus is, consider who was there from the beginning of time and who will be with you “from this time on and forevermore.” Jesus is all about the amazing love of God which will never let you go. There is nothing in this world, no change, no nothing that will separate you from the “love of Christ Jesus our Lord.” Thank you, Jesus.
